![]() Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antarctica : If you liked the Pavement album you'll like this. "Gold Soundz"īuilt to Spill - Perfect From Now On : The first two tracks are absolutely perfect and exactly what you're looking for. Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain : A little more guitar based and upbeat than you might want but this is a great album worth checking out for the basslines and melodies alone. ![]() The Cure - Wish : Although most people would probably recommend starting with Disintegration or Pornography, this is my favourite Cure album because the songwriting here is really tight and poppy while still retaining their trademark downbeat sound. Pixies - Bossanova : More straightfoward altrock than Surfer Rosa and has lots of layered, angular guitars. The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses : Maybe a little more downbeat than what you're looking for but the influence on PV is very evident, especially the opener. The Jesus and Mary Chain - Darklands : Basically if Script of the Bridge was less depressing and if The Smiths were a little more mellow. The Smiths - Hatful of Hollow : This collection of B-sides is a lot better produced than their debut and less jangly than their second album and very similar to PV. This album also sounds very similar to Interpol if you're into them. The Chameleons - Script of the Bridge : One of the best post-punk albums ever, the vibe here is very similar to what you're looking for with really airy and hazy production and layered guitars. There's barely any synths on here and so the result is a really catchy post-punk album with tons of great riffs. New Order - Movement : This record is a middle ground between Joy Division's sparse post-punk and New Order's later layered and upbeat music. Peripheral Vision borrows a lot from 80s post-punk, 80s jangle pop, and 90s indie/alt rock. Anyway I've seen a bunch of people ask about albums similar to PV on this sub so I figured I'd post it here. I originally wrote this for /u/DoctorTobogggan who posted this question in /r/indieheads but predictably, it got Rule 6'd so idk if he saw it. HEY!! Check out /r/posthardcore and /r/pop_rock! r/poppunkjerk is my favorite subreddit, by far. ie ( Be an active member before you post your OC) No direct image links, these should be put in a self/text post.ĭo not share/request illegal download links or streams.įollow the self promotion guidelines.
